Australian Dental Outreach (ADO) is our passion project!

**Currently on hold due to COVID19 and travel**
We believe strongly in devoting our time, material and money to less privileged individuals and communities. With the help of other not-for-profit organisations, we have been able to assist thousands of people in dire need across Australia and around the world. Together, we have assisted communities in regional and rural Australia as well as the following third-world countries: Guatemala, Nepal, Cambodia, Columbia and The Philippines. There is also a large teaching component to Australian Dental Outreach. Australian Dental Outreach makes us feel like we are living our purpose of "positively transforming dentistry".

What is Australian Dental Outreach?

Starting in 2019 Dentists from Avenue Dental will be taking a group of final year Australian dental students to Cambodia’s capital city - Phnom Penh. Here, we will oversee students treating and educating disadvantaged people who otherwise would not have access to dental care. We want to teach young dentists the value of volunteering from a young age. We believe that this will shape them into excellent, caring clinicians. We believe taking Australian trained dental students overseas to help underprivileged people is a win-win for all involved.

Australian Dental Outreach is run by dentists for dentists. We are Australian dental professionals with a clear understanding of current legislation and requirements. There is a huge need for dentists to volunteer in remote communities and overseas. Some underprivileged people believe that severe pain in the mouth is a normal part of ageing. They cannot access help due to a lack of services and their lack of funds.

Aligned with a Cambodian University, Australian Dental Outreach is well placed to run a safe program in an established facility where we can pursue excellence. Our dentists are patient mentors who love to teach. We have a reputation for providing quality dentistry.

Australian Dental Outreach provides a unique, affordable opportunity for Australian trained junior dentists and dental students to learn and expand their skill set. Over the week of volunteering they will gain hands on experience, Continuing Professional Development hours from formal lectures and knowledge from case discussion. The program is run annually during the University common vacation week (June/July).
